Tryout Breakaway Camp
April 3 - May 24, 2012
AT RALEIGH CENTER ICE

|

Official practice rink of the Carolina Hurricanes |
BE ONSIDE AND GET READY TO MAKE THE CUT!
Tryouts for the A, AA and AAA hockey teams are quickly approaching. This will be your chance to display your talent and reveal the progress that you have made to the coaches and selection committee. The 2012 Tryout Breakaway is a camp held exclusively to help serious players prepare for the final cut. This 8 week program is held at Raleigh Center Ice on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and is designed to create an intense and competitive on-ice training environment for players and goaltenders.
PREPARATION AND PROFESSIONAL COACHING
Players will have a more successful tryout when they are prepared. Athletes should be both physically and mentally ready to play. Proper training and coaching, as well as appropriate rest is crucial. Support from parents can also be very important.
Players may experience different styles of trying out and practicing than what they are used to. Each coach will have his own approach to the game. Do not be discouraged. Regardless of the method used, the same basic skills will be evaluated. The committee is interested in your skating ability, puck control and shooting and passing skills. You must have an understanding of how the game is played.
Tryouts can be a stressful event. However, it is important to remember that hockey is a game. Unrealistic expectations and undue pressure are the two most destructive factors in having a successful tryout. Be calm, be prepared, and have fun.
CAMP GOALS
Our goals are not to improve just your skating and hockey skills, but to build confidence in all the students who attend this camp. It is just as important, if not our responsibility as instructors, mentors and educators, to encourage good citizenship and to promote "Student Athletes". |

"This is a great camp for serious hockey players wanting to get that upper edge for their seasons. I attended several camps and even played for Ryan. Ryan and his staff give great attention to detail critiquing the small things that make a big impact on your game. The power skating really helped me become a stronger skater. The drills and games are tailored to challenge your skills but are also creative helping you expand your hockey sense. Ryan and his staff really helped me get to where I am today, playing for Boston University." -Jenn Arms
