Meet the Director

Ryan Schmidt

Ryan Schmidt currently resides in the Detroit Metro area, where he grew up and played his youth hockey. A former CHL All-Star, Ryan enjoyed a nine-year professional career before dedicating himself to coaching and player development.

With over 30 years of experience teaching power skating and hockey skills, Ryan has worked with players at all levels—from youth to professional—in North America and Europe. Many of his students have advanced to play at higher levels, including the NHL.

As a development-first coach, one of Ryan’s most significant achievements was founding the Carolina Stars Hockey Club in North Carolina. Within two years, he coached a 14U team to a state championship, earning a spot at the USA Hockey National Tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah. Under his leadership, the Stars program made three USA Hockey National Tournament appearances in just four years, cementing its reputation as a premier development program.

Ryan’s passion for teaching and commitment to player growth make him an invaluable asset to any hockey organization.
